The Hamburg International Graduate School for the Study of Regional Powers at the German Institute of Global and Area Studies (GIGA), University of Hamburg invites applications for 8 Ph.D. scholarships starting 1 April 2010, for a duration of three years. The programme is open to young academics in the fields of international relations/international political economy and comparative area studies. The Institute for Advanced Study, School of Historical Studies is an independent private institution founded in 1930 to create a community of scholars focused on intellectual inquiry, free from teaching and other university obligations. Scholars from around the world come to the Institute to pursue their own research. Those chosen are offered membership for a set period and a stipend.
